CULTURE, ENTERTAINMENT & THE SPIRIT OF INGENUITY
Forging Freedom, Fueling Progress For Cuban American Legacy in Business, Pop Culture and the Arts. The Cuban Heritage Foundation is a vibrant beacon of cultural preservation and celebration, dedicated to showcasing the rich tapestry of Cuban American’s culture and its far-reaching impact on the global stage. From the rhythms of salsa that pulse through the heart of the diaspora to the colorful artistry that paints our shared history, the foundation is committed to honoring the social, cultural, and entertainment contributions of Cubans Americans worldwide.
One of the most intriguing chapters of Cuba's vibrant history is the profound influence of the Cuban casino industry and its impact on the evolution of the casino industry in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the late 1950’s, Cuban entrepreneurs and entertainers left an indelible mark as they began to arrive to Las Vegas, helping to establish Las Vegas’ casino table game industry; which to date, is the leading part of the Las Vegas gambling mechanism, generating billions of dollars to the Las Vegas community.
Legendary performers like Desi Arnaz, who brought Cuban culture into American living rooms with "I Love Lucy," continues to resonate across generations, have not only entertained, but also shaped the Las Vegas cultural landscape and influenced countless Cuban casino dealers to relocate to Las Vegas during and after Fidel Castro’s Cuban revolution. His son Desi Arnaz, Jr. who currently resides in Boulder City, NV (an outlying city 20 minutes from Las Vegas), continues to inspire and create. He continued the legacy of entertainment by buying and renovating the Boulder Theatre in 1997 from a movie theatre to a Live Performance theatre. It is currently home to the Boulder City Ballet Company.
The Cuban Heritage Foundation also recognizes the contributions of Cuban-American business leaders such as philanthropist, Miguel Bezos, who instilled the spirit of ingenuity and hard work into his stepson, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, as well as Jorge Mas Santos, who has played a pivotal role in advocating for the Cuban community, and politicians like Senator Marco Rubio, whose work in the U.S. Senate has amplified the voice of Cuban Americans on a national stage.
We honor them all with a deep commitment to sharing the vibrancy of the Cuban diaspora with the world. The Cuban Heritage Foundation is more than a repository of history—it's a living testament to the resilience, creativity, and enduring spirit of the Cuban people. Through ongoing initiatives, events, and educational programs, the foundation continues to ensure that the rich legacy of Cuba is celebrated and preserved for future generations.
